Guizhou, China

I went back to my hometown, Guizhou, China, during the summer of 2017. Guizhou has a diverse population of ethnic minority groups, one of which is the indigenous Buyi minority. I visited a Buyi village, whose chief is planning to turn the area, which is rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage, into a tourist attraction. I captured the the precious moment of five Buyi villagers having an afternoon talk. Despite my intrusion, some of them warmly smiled for the picture. While preserving this valuable image, I wondered how the transformation of the village would change their lives and how they would react to the rapid change.
